Here are the 2 week check-ups.

This might be a good time to start talking about colour.

DCK: Choir X Cinder

Without getting into the details just yet (I will in a future post), it is known that black (“B') is dominant over chocolate ('b'), and also that the otter pattern ('at') is dominant over self colour ('a') (i.e. the same colour all over, not counting white patches).

No new losses today.

This is Cobalt and her litter. She has TEN babies, born March 12, so they are 3 1/2 weeks old, same as Cancon's.

She's been a great mom - hasn't lost a single one.

chores sprouts feeding rabbits farm

Thought it was time to explain a bit more about the sprouts that I feed to my rabbits and birds.

Everyone LOVES them.

Sprouted grains are very nutritious, the critters get to have fresh greens on a regular basis, PLUS it helps to defray the cost of feed. I can easily triple or quadruple the amount of feed I have available, simply by sprouting it.

Epigenetic Control of Gene Expression

While the human genome sequence has transformed our understanding of human biology, it isn’t just the sequence of your DNA that matters, but also how you use it! How are some genes activated and others are silenced? How is this controlled? The answer is epigenetics. Epigenetics has been a hot topic for research over the past de…

So, I've been messing around with ways to do hay racks on my rabbit cages. I don't like the wire ones - they're too small, for one thing, and they are messy for another. I've tried the metal hopper ones - they're *OK*, but they don't fasten to the cage that well, and tend to get knocked off easily.
